Facebook is an amazing marketing tool that many people don’t fully utilize. However, I also feel that there are so many businesses out there that use it consistently, but not in the right way.

Just like anything in life, if you don’t use something with the intended purpose, it’s not going to end up in a way that you were hoping.

Do you know what else I believe and think on a daily basis? Work smarter, not harder.

Facebook Ads were CREATED to help you and your business. The tools, the coding, and all the hard work that Facebook put into making the options for Ads is there for you and your advantage. Why not take complete advantage of them?

Before you start ANYTHING with Facebook, you need to understand that there are Do’s and Don’ts of the Facebook Advertising world.

The Do’s and Don’ts in using Facebook Ads

  • DO KEEP IT SIMPLE.
Seriously, the more simple that you can keep your ad, the better. People don’t like busy, clutter or chaos so throwing too much at this is going to cause them to not even want to watch or interact with your ad at all. Highlight the main points of what you’re trying to get across, and then let it be. Once you have them interested and engaged, then you can add in other details.
  • DON’T PUBLISH UNTIL YOU’VE READ, REREAD, AND READ AGAIN.
Simple spelling or grammar errors can make or break your whole campaign! Don’t rush, take your time, and make certain that everything flows well together and is spelled correctly. Have one or two other people proofread for you as well, just to be certain.
  • DO CHOOSE AN AD GRAPHIC THAT IS EYE-CATCHING.
Did you know that potential clients will make a judgement call in less than a few seconds on whether or not they are interested in what you have to show or say? If you want them to stick around, have a graphic that will peak and hold onto their interest. This image is an example of what not to use. It’s confusing, hard to understand and small.

  • DON’T BOOST YOUR POST IMMEDIATELY.
I know, I know…you see that little boost button and you think that you NEED to push it, that you NEED to throw more money at Facebook for your ad…but you don’t. Not in the beginning anyway. Facebook will do their own “boost” on their own towards the target market that you choose. If after a time, you still feel that you aren’t getting the results that you want, you can then revisit that want and need to boost.
  • DO HAVE A CALL TO ACTION.
If you are marketing something, let your viewers know what you are wanting them to do. Plain and simple, right? Having a call to action in your Facebook Ad is what it’s really all about!

  • And last, but definitely not least….DON’T GET DISCOURAGED.
Figuring out the marketing world can be tough. There are ups and downs, ebbs and flows and it seems like there is always something that’s being updated or changing. Marketing your business means that you need to be in it for the long haul. You have to take the good with the bad and try to find a way to balance it all out.

Remember to keep your head in the game and know that every decision that you makes gets you one step closer to figuring out the perfect marketing strategy for you and your business!
